sometimes i think about how much computer tech has changed over the last 40 years (from 8K PET to today's smartphones), vs how little has changed in the way software gets written

(sure, i guess a lot *has* changed, but in comparison... take a look at someone's green screen terminal from back then and look at someone's VIM session now ... 😛 )
